Liam Clemons -- Boy's Head Coach
Coach Clemons enters his fourth season as the boy's head coach after serving
one season as an assistant for XC and track in 2003-2004. He is also an
assistant coach for track in charge of boy's and girl's distance. Mr. Clemons teaches
science at Trabuco Hills in addition to coaching. He was named the Cross Country
Coach of the Year in 2006 for Orange County, CIF Southern Section, and the State of
California. Mr. Clemons is an alumnus of the California State University, with a BA in
Journalism/Mass Communications from Humboldt State University and a teaching
credential from CSU Fullerton.
At HSU, he was a member of the men's cross country and track teams and competed
mainly in the 1500 and 3000 meter steeple-chase for the Lumberjacks. Before attending
HSU, Clemons was a standout runner for American River Junior College in Sacramento,
where he was born and raised. At ARC coach Clemons led both the track and cross
country teams to back to back conference titles. During his sophomore year he became
the NorCal Region Champion in the steeple-chase and went on to finish 5th in the state.
For his accomplishments, he was named the individual athlete of the year for all sports
in 1998 for the Bay Valley Conference.
In High School, coach Clemons was the captain of the cross country team at Del Campo
High School in Fair Oaks. As a senior he helped lead his team to win the 1995 DIV I
cross country state championship (The only NorCal team to ever win Division 1). Del
Campo's cross country team won seven consecutive varsity Sac Juaquin Section titles,
two of which coach Clemons was a scoring member. Coach Clemons's PRs include a
9:20 3000m steeple-chase, 9:45 3200m (as a junior), 4:04 1500m, and a 32:20 10km.
He is joined on most occasions by his wife and assistant coach Melissa Clemons
(Trabuco Hills Alumni 1995) and their son Micah Cash.
